Curriculum For 2008-2009

There are several different classes available at Windsor Christian Preschool. These classes are based upon the age of the child. Please see our class description below.

EARLY DISCOVERY (Tuesday/Thursday)
Three years old on or before September 30, 2008. (Completely potty trained)

The Early Discover class learns through physical play and a variety of hands on activities. Each day is a different theme that includes language development, arts and crafts, stories, music, and simple games that provide the child the opportunity for having fun and meeting new friends in a nurturing environment. Through these activities and the sharing of Bible stories, we share God's love.

EARLY ADVENTURER (Tuesday/Thursday)
Four years old on or before January 31, 2009

The Early Adventurer class stresses social and emotional development through role-play, games, and interaction with other children. Circle time and various centers stimulate language and cognitive development through the use of stories, songs, and a variety of activities that include sorting, alphabet and number identification, and art mediums. Integrated throughout the day are biblical truths that are learned through Bible stories and songs.

EXPLORER (Mon/Wed/Fri with optional Thur )
Four years old on or before September 30, 2008.

This class incorporates various developmental skills through weekly study units. Kindergarten readiness is fostered by centers and circle times that introduce alphabet and number concepts, recognition of simple patterns, sorting, cutting, and drawing. Curiosity is enhanced through science and discovery activities and through a number of field trips throughout the year. The child is given opportunities to develop his/her social and emotional skills through imaginative play, sharing, and interactive participation. An awareness of God is developed through Bible stories and truths.

CHALLENGER (Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri - Tues is optional)
Five years old on or before January 31, 2009

The Challenger curriculum is developed around nine distinct units that incorporate, on a daily basis, an introduction to the varied skills necessary for complete kindergarten readiness. Through hands on centers and imaginative play, each day includes math, science, social studies, language, art, and an interactive, instructional circle time. Kitchen creations, several field trips and computer classes compliment the curriculum. Our Bible curriculum is specifically designed for this age group; and through a chronological study of both Old and New Testament stories, the children learn true and applicable biblical precepts.

To prepare your child for later learning and living with a positive reinforcement for the joy of learning and love for living.

To foster development in the following areas:

SPIRITUAL: Foster an awaremess of God's love for each child using Bible stories, songs, and verses in daily activities

COGNITIVE: Encourage an enthusiasm for learning and a sense of accomplishment in mastering preparative skills for school

SOCIAL: Encourage participation in group activities and getting along with others

EMOTIONAL: Provide a loving and caringfaculy in a safe and nurturing environment designed specifically for the needs of the young child

MOTOR SKILLS: Develop large and small muscle coordination
